TQ 2880 NW DUKE'S YARD, W1 68/14 Nos 1, 1A and 2 (including Nos 85 and 85A Duke Street) GV 14.1.70 II Mews range, partly with later shop. 1900-02 by Eustace Balfour find Thackeray Turner. Red brick with Portland Stone-attic and ground floor. Tiled roof with gables to attic and tall brick panelled chimney stacks. Free style in Philip Webb manner. 2 storeys and attics. 15 window range. Coach house/garage doors articulated by stone pilasters. Recessed sashes; 1st floor with gauged brick heads under shallow brick arcading with pilasters defining bays. Above, at attic level, a projecting modillion cornice. The row is continued by Nos 85 and 85A Duke Street in similar style but with a c1910 shopfront. Left hand return with glazed brick facing to ground floor and lower gabled wing beyond with square-headed entrance with overlight. Right hand return with shaped and coped gable with large central stack and lower wing beyond with reproduction C18 pedimented doorcase framing a segmental arched doorway with panelled door being the entrance to No 85A; ground floor with glazed brick facing.

Red brick and Portland stone, tiled roof. Sophisticated yet restrained Free Style exercise in the late Philip Webb manner. 2 storeys and attics. Coach_house/garage doors articulated by stone pilasters. lst floor has range of flush framed sash windows. Shallow brick pilastered arcading above, modillion cornice and stone faced attic with windows rising as dormers into roof. Gable to return of No. 1 with glazed brick facing to ground floor. The row is continued by No. 85 Duke Street which has a c. 1910 shop front, the Duke Street return with shaped stone coped gable and lower wing beyond with round arched doorway.
