Details
SD 70 NE STAND LANE 7/107 Nos 1, 2 and 3 Stand - Lodge
- II
Probably mid C18, but refronted and extended probably c.1850. Reddish-brown brick. 2 storeys. 6 sash windows with glazing bars, recessed within openings evidently formed by mid-C19 skin (and segmental-headed openings on first floor). Doorway under 3rd window, within probably early C19 rectangular iron trellis work porch, has been altered to accommodate 2 doors. First floor sill-band. Strong bracketed eaves cornice. Slate roof with coped gables. To left and set back almost full depth of house is 2-bay. Wing of C1850, of similar character but with bay windows on ground floor. Various rear extensions of original period. Earliest known occupant was J M Astbury, head of cotton and silk manufacturers, whose widow divided the house in three and remodelled it.
