Open-sided shrine, containing sculptured figures, on a podium.
1903. By Harry Furse. Limestone with bronze figures.
Rectangular shrine with Ionic pilasters at each angle flanking
round-arched openings having architraved heads, with foliated
keystones, supported on carved console brackets; entablature
with projecting cornice. Shrine raised on a rectangular plinth
with moulded base and cornice, and carved relief wreath
inscribed in the centre. Larger than life bronze sculpture of
a winged angel cradling and kissing a young sleeping girl.
Signed Furse 1903. HISTORICAL NOTE: Eve Hammersley (died 1902)
was the young daughter of an artistic/literary family who
lived at Admiral's House (qv).
