Details
SADDLEWORTH HIGHER GRANGE SD 90 NE 3/126 Higher Grange - Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. "TM 1701" (Thomas Mills) on door lintel, extended early C18 and altered in later C18. Watershot squared rubble with graduated stone slate roof. 3 bays with 2 storeys. Quoins and projecting plinth. Door with dated lintel and dressed surround has blocked 3-light window to left and 4-light to right both with double-chamfered cavetto-moulded mullions. 4 and 5-light flat-faced mullion first floor windows. Bay 1 has been raised in height. Rear has 4, 6 and 4-light double-chamfered windows (as above) on ground floor although the central one has now got flat-faced mullions. 4 and 5-light recessed flat-faced mullion windows to first floor and a 3-light double chamfered (as above). Door in bay 3 has chamfered surround. Ridge and gable chimney stacks. 2-light openings in gable-ends some of which are blocked.
