11/255 Fryer monument, in churchyard, about 6m south-east of south-east corner of tower, Church of St. Peter and St. Paul
GV II
Chest tomb: mid C18; stone. Plain lid with chamfered edge. Corners, quarter-square gadrooned balusters with scrolls on bulbous base. North face main centre flanked by narrow panels: head with wings in centre, drapery thence caught up with bows in top corners and falling down sides to frame lettering. Flanking sections tendrils, fruits and flowers. South side has rococo edge to central panel, with bows and falling drapery in flanking ones; weathered. West end raised margin, decorative carving ending in 2 scrolls at bottom; east end raised margin, with serpent of eternity surrounding hourglass, scroll stand below, above fronds. Splayed plinth. South inscription weathered off, north to Mary, daughter of James and Elizabeth Fryer, died 1760.
