5/13 The Old Rectory
- II
House, now sub-divided into two tenements with an activity hall added after 1918. C15 core extensively altered during late C19 and early C20. Timber-framed with sandstone plinth and refacing to western end; brick refacing to south side. Stone slate roof to north, tile roof to south. Three bays aligned east/west with later stone addition to west and early C20 addition extending to north at west end. Two axial stacks and lateral stack to south side. North front: two square headed doorways in stone addition to left, two gabled dormers with 2-light leaded casements and central similar smaller 2-light window below eaves, 3-light leaded case- ments flank doorway with triangular head, ledged door. East return of C20 addition to right with similar gabled dormer and 2-light casement window to ground floor to left of door. The timber-framing to the north and west is completely C20 as is the present raised roof. The interior reveals however the survival of at least one cruck truss and the blade and a small section of a further blade of one other now cut at ground floor level.
