HIGH STREET (south east side)
Victoria House

(Formerly listed as Victoria House. Romney Marsh Trading Co Ltd)

An L-shaped group of buildings, probably timber-framed, refronted in the early C19. The front facing the High Street is of two storeys stuccoed. Tiled roof. Eaves cornice and stringcourse. Two sashes with glazing bars missing, pediments over the ground floor windows. Modern doorcase, in splayed angle with pediment over. The north east side facing Victoria Street is of two storeys and attics. Its north west half is of painted brick. Eaves cornice, two hipped dormers and five windows. Ground floor windows are sashes with glazing bars intact. Above are two casement windows with small square leaded panes and three sash windows. Doorcase with pilasters, pediment and semi-circular fanlight. Contains a good staircase. Brick and rubble plinth. Adjoining to the left is an C18 extension of two storeys painted brick. Old tiled roof with off-centre brick stack. Three sashes with most glazing bars intact. Simple right side cambered doorcase.
