EASTRY
Barn immediately North of Little Statenborough Villa

Barn. C17. Weatherboarded timber frame on random bond brick plinth.
Corrugated asbestos roof, the east end half-hipped, the west end gabled.
Plan; 5-bay aisled barn with threshing bay at centre.
Exterior; C20 weatherboarding. The north side has central cart entrance
with boarded double doors and to left and right loading doors in dormers
above the eaves. The south side has central cart entrance .
Interior; Angled jowels to the arcade posts which have arch braces to
the ties and arcade plates. Passing shaws halved and lapped to aisle ties
which are set on angled aisle posts. Common rafter roof with ridge-board
and dovetail lap-jointed collars with clasped purlins. The purlins are
later replacements and the ridge-board is probably a later insertion.
Vertical studding to aisle walls, and end walls, the later have mid-rails
and tension braces.
