Details
AYLESHAM RATLING TR 25 SW 2/6 Donkey wheel about 15 metres north of Ratling Court GV II Donkey wheel and housing. C18. Timber with thatched roof. The wheel with a vertical shaft and drum with the upper and lower harness beams staggered and joined by a timber harness. The central truss of the machinery also supports the circular thatched housing with wall posts probably originally with weather boarded sides. A timber framed and thatched open sided pentice runs from the wheel house to the north wing of Ratling Court consisting of 3 bays with brick and cobbled floor, clasped purlin roof and with various hooks and wooden wall frames for certain bucolic practices.
