Row of four adjoining artisan cottages. Circa mid C19. Flemish bond brick tile-hung to the first floor with bands of ornamental tiles; peg-tile roof brick stacks.
Plan: East-facing, symmetrically-planned two-cell cottages on the roadside each with one principal front room and a rear service room, the principal rooms heated from two axial stacks in the range. Front doors to Nos 2 and 3 in the centre of the range, Nos 1 and 4 entered on the returns. No 4 is L play with a rear right wing.
Exterior: Two storeys. Roof hipped at ends. Symmetrical four-window east front with paired porches on rustic posts in the centre and projecting enclose porches on the returns to Nos 1 and 4. All preserve their original plank an' cover strip front doors and original windows to the east elevation, two-light timber casements, two-panes per light. Some alterations to No 1 in progress a time of survey (1988).
Interior: Not inspected.
A well-preserved row of workers' cottages. They form a group with Nos 5-8, a detached row immediately to the north which are similarly treated externally but have an earlier core.
