DITTON CP THE STREAM TQ 75 NW (north side) 8/127 Stream Cottages, Nos - 44-48 (even)

GV II*

Hall-house, now house pair. Circa 1420-1450 with solar wing of c.1480-1500; C19 cladding to 1st floor. Timber-framed with brick ground floor except under left hand jetty, where close-studded framing is exposed with plaster infilling. Plain tiled roof with return gables at both ends, to left over 1st floor jetty on bressumer, joist ends and brackets. C16 moulded wooden barge boards. Stack behind ridge to left. 2 storeys; irregular fenestration of 5 windows on lst floor and 4 windows on ground floor. Boarded and panelled door to left of entrance right hand window under gable, (No 44), entrance to No 46/48 is 2-storey later C20 addition set back at left end. Interior: much evidence of timber- framing. Built-in stack with carved Tudor arched wooden bressumers to fireplaces in drawing and dining rooms. Moulded beams in drawing room, (former parlour). Cambered beam over solar, now bedroom, possibly supporting solar crown-post. Crown-post possibly also over former hall; roof-space inaccessible at time of re-survey.
