24/733 Water tower and north building of water works (formerly listed under Aubrey St. 12.7.66. with south building)

G.V. II

Water tower and water works building. 1857. T. Duncan. Snecked stone. Water tower of 3 stages. Lower stage is rusticated with round-arched arcade, 12 arches, flat band over. 2nd stage has round arched arcade with impost band and keystone; top bracketed cornice. 3rd stage is recessed; iron water tank with iron supporting brackets. Central decagonal stone column and 2 concentric arcades with stone column and brick arches in both directions. Adjoining square tower to south has quoins, bracketed cornice and antefixae. 2 stages of round-headed lights with louvres. Adjoining block to south of 2 storeys and 4 bays. Ground floor has round-headed reveals. Top cornice and high parapet with blind arcade, Steps to left return to round- headed 1st floor entrance. Adjoining 1st bay block with window of 3 round-headed lights under gable.
