SD 47 SE WARTON MAIN STREET (SOUTH SIDE)

3/235 No. 78 2.5.1968 (formerly listed as No 78 and Outbuildings attached to rear of No 78) II

House, late C17th. Limestone rubble with sandstone door and window dressings and slate roof. 2-unit central-entry plan with gable stacks, with 3rd contemporary unit to the right last used as a stable. 2 storeys with attic. To the left of the porch is a 3-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window. To the right is a similar former 4-light window with central mullion removed. On the 1st floor are 3 rebated and chamfered surrounds, with a window to the left of the porch having plain reveals. Open-fronted porch over doorway, which has chamfered jambs and pyramid stops. Chamfer continues around battlemented lintel. C17th front door remains with wooden studs cut off flush. Right-hand gable has coping and kneeler.
