2. Between 1841 and 1845 (not shown on Decimus Burton's plan of 1841, but shown as built on the Ordnance Survey of 1845). Architect: A Tuach. Former Crown Hotel. Ashlar. Modern roof. 3 storeys. Moulded eaves cornice. Blocking course, pediment- shaped over end bays, and with central panelled die flanked by scrolled consoles. 1st floor band. 7 ranges of modern windows of which 2 end ranges break forward and have raised long and short quoins. Ground floor has horizontally channelled quoins. Doorway in Tuscan surround with paired columns, dentilled cornice and pediment-shaped blocking course.
