CROSTON TOWN ROAD SD 41 NE 8/91 Nos. 59 and 61 17.4.67 GV II
Pair of cottages, now shop and cottage. Late C18, altered. Handmade brick, stone slate roof. Two bays. Two storeys, built as reflected pair with doors adjoining; No. 61 has segmental-headed door and one segmental-headed window on each floor, now 12-pane top-hung casements imitating sashes; No. 59 to left has patched wall in place of door, a C19 shop front to the left (sunblind case with cornice supported by decorated scrolled consoles) and 1st floor window like those in No. 61. Two chimneys at each gable, those at the left cut down. Rear altered. Listed for group value. (No. 63 adjoins right hand end, q.v.).
