SD 51 NE CHORLEY DUXBURY PARK
5/42 Duxbury Hall Barn 21.12.1966 (Formerly listed as Barn under Duxbury Hall) GV II
Barn, probably early C17 or earlier. Cruck framed; gable walls of old brick, a small 3-light brick mullioned ventilation opening in the right gable wall, side walls of random sandstone rubble, with large quoins, stone slate roof hipped at left end. Rectangular plan of 7 bays, the 7th lofted; large double-width wagon door in 4th bay, 4 ordinary doorways (2 blocked), 3 large openings at upper level and 4 various square windows. Interior: 6 full cruck trusses with blades of large scantling and notched dorsals, all with tie beams, collars, collar-yokes and blade tops trenched for the ridge, 2 trenched and windbraced purlins each side. One wall post, parts of others, and wallplates with mortices in the soffit suggest original timber walling.
