Details

ACCRINGTON BLACKBURN ROAD SD 72 NE 7/6 Nos. 100 and 102 - - II

House, probably early C19, altered. Ashlar facade, rubble sides and rear, slate roof now with one cut-down chimney at right gable. Double-pile 5-bay plan with rear extension to centre. Three storeys, but presenting only 2 storeys to street level which is raised. Symmetrical, with rusticated quoins, 1st floor sill-band, moulded eaves cornice, central 3-bay pediment which breaks forward slightly and has rusticated rectangular doorcase with a cornice; ground floor altered as shops, but 1st floor has 5 sashed windows without glazing bars. Left return wall has 2 similar windows on each floor; rear has 3-storey gabled extension (possibly stair turret) with a 2-storey lean-to on each side. Interior not seen.
