House, now part of hospital, 1868-9. Alfred Waterhouse. Common brick with red brick and stone dressings, blue brick bands tiled roof with cresting. 2 storeys with attic, 6 bays. Irregular composition. 1st bay projects under gable. 3rd bay recessed with 2-storey gabled projection; 4th and 5th bays have gable, 6th bay of one storey. 1st floor sill course; top Lombard frieze; cogged friezes to gables. Most windows are segmented headed and paired, 1st bay has pointed window with heavy corbelled and gabled hood, end stack above. 3rd bay has 3-light pointed and traceried stair window. 2nd bay has dormer with tile-hung gable and canopy arch of 2 orders; Entrance is segmental headed with heavy door with diamond lights. 2 cross-axial stacks. Interior has dog-leg stair with arcaded screens and iron balusters. House now part of hospital. The west side is symmetrical, with end gabled wings, and stone-mullioned windows of pointed light. Interior has dog-leg stair with arcaded screens and iron balusters.
