Uppingham School: Wall
and gateway

Wall, 1926 and gateway 1929. Wall of coursed squared ironstone, reused from cottages
which previously stood on the site, with brick outer facing to east. Inner face
incorporates 3 blocked 2-light ovolo-moulded stone mullioned windows, and has a
4-centred arched doorway set perpendicularly to it, also relics from the demolished
cottages. Gateway of coursed squared stone is of 3 round-headed arches, a large
central carriageway flanked by 2 smaller pedestrian ways each with cast iron gates,
presented by the members of the Old Uppingham Lodge of Freemasons.
