20.2.1985 II

Cruck-framed farmhouse, C17 or earlier, altered in C18, now used as store. Brick with some boulder stone, corrugated iron roof on 2 levels with boarded eaves, brick chimneys on ridge and at left gable. Three-bay baffle-entry plan, 1½ storeys; the 1st bay rebuilt, raised and extended to the rear in C18. East front of whitewashed brick has segmental-headed doorway to 2nd bay in line with ridge chimney, a similar doorway on the right to the 3rd bay, 2 segmental-headed 3-light casements to the left and a 2-light sliding-sash dormer breaking the eaves of the 2nd bay. Rear: south half of 2nd bay wall made of boulder stones, left of this the foot of a cruck blade is exposed, standing on a padstone, and further left are vertical rectangular windows of one and 2 lights to the 2nd and 3rd bays respectively. Interior: 2nd bay incorporates full cruck truss with neither spurs nor dorsals (lower part of front blade severed), has a heck with shouldered heck-post (possible re-used wallpost), and a ceiling probably inserted in C18; 3rd bay has large axial beam, and joists which have tongue-stopped chamfer; roof of 2nd bay composed of closely spaced rafters.
