CASTLE DONINGTON HIGH STREET SK 4427-4527 (west side) 9/80 No 36 (The Cedar) 7.12.62 GV II
House. Circa 1830, altered, with slight traces of earlier building. White- washed roughcast, hipped roof of C20 interlocking tiles, rendered chimneys with pairs of shafts. Double pile. 2 storeys; 3 x 3 bays. Projecting plinth, moulded render and wooden eaves on main fronts, dentil eaves to rear. Front to road has large late C19 rectangular bay window to left, with French doors, wooden cornice and flat roof, and large tripartite sash to right. 3-pane sashes to first floor. Central C19 half-glazed door with ornmental radiating fanlight in depressed arch and hollow-chamfered surround. Rendered doorcase with Doric columns, simply panelled frieze and flat cornice. Right side has 3-pane sashes, those to left blind. Centre bay has double half-glazed doors with marginally glazed fanlight. Door and sash above have raised surrounds with cornices and scroll brackets, the window with bracketed sill. Irregular rear with slight projection to right, 3-pane sashes, and 6-panelled door with rectangular fan- light in segmental arched recess.
