House, with former bakehouse to rear. C15-C16 cross wing to right with C17 wing
to left. C19 and C20 alterations. Cross wing is timber framed with close
studding, roughcast infill, and cruck truss exposed in front gable. C17 wing
retains some timber framing, especially in original wall, but is mostly rebuilt
in brick to front. Left gable end has high rubble stone base. Roof is thatched
to front and right side but slated to rear. Brick chimneys flank left wing.
L-plan with later outshot in rear angle. 1 1/2 storeys; 3 bays to front, the right
bay gabled. Ground floor has 3-light horizontal sashes, all renewed C20. Upper
storey has C20 2-light barred wooden casements, those to left in thatch eye-
brows. Right bays each have a C20 glazed door. To rear of cross wing is former
bakehouse with lower walls of stone, but raised in brick. Further brick out-
buildings beyond are not of special architectural interest. Cross wing is said
to have 3 cruck trusses in all, but 2 are concealed. Front bay has heavy joists
and spine beam. Left bays also have stop-chamfered spine beams.
