Parish Church. Largely c1860. Rock faced limestone ashlar with shingle roof. West Tower, nave with transepts and chancel. Tower of three stages with angle buttresses. Articulated to south by short stair turret up to second stage, with doorway at ground floor. 2-light deeply recessed. bell chamber light with quatrefoils. Embattled parapet. Architectural idiom throughout is the decorated style, with heavily cut tracery of 2 and 3-lights. Heavy buttressed and coped gabled south porch with simple chamfer to inner arch. Sill band and plinth to all external walls, 3-light window to east of chancel. Good articulation of the elements of the building, in the changing angles and roof lines and massing. Inside triple chamfered tower arch without responds. Lierne vault within the tower space and door with deep moulded ogee head to northern stairway. Nave roof has steeply curved main trusses alternating with scissor braced principal rafters. South transept filled by organ. Text round north transept window and chancel arch which has two filletted cylindrical shafts, and deep moulding with hood mould and corbel heads. It is flanked by lancet windows. Chancel is proportionately very narrow with continuous sill band arid reredos with trefoiled arches. Sedilia and aumbries to north and south. Roof panelled in squares with planking, wrought iron altar rails. Some memorials replaced from earlier Church: in the north transcept various C16 brasses, inscriptions without illustrations, and in the west tower a wall memorial with two busts beneath a broken pediment commemorating Ann and William Wollaston, d1629 and 1660. Stained glass: in the west window of tower emblematic, in the north windows the evangelists in the medieval revival style. In the north transept, by Kempe: St. Michael and the archangels; the large figures are surrounded by smaller angels in the upper lights and heraldic emblems etc below. White and yellow colours predominate with peacock feather wings and sumptuous detail. It is of 1918, a memorial to Frederick Wollaston. In the east window, a small central lozenge of Christ carrying the cross within a vine scroll with emblematic design. Octagonal font with simple emblems in deeply recessed panels. Large free standing stone octagonal pulpit with richly traceried panels.
