NARBOROUGH LEICESTER ROAD SP 59 NW 7/59 No 14 (Narborough House) with garden wall and archway to west
GV II
House. Front wing is probably late C18, raised and altered late C19; rear extensions are dated 1869 and have monogram of John Grosvenor Young. Front wing is rendered and colourwashed, with gable ends of colourwashed brick. Wooden eaves on paired brackets, slate roof, flanking brick chimneys. 3 storeys. 4 bays of C19 sashes in plain reveals; 6-panelled door to centre with rectangular fanlight, wooden surround and wooden cornice hood on cut scroll brackets. Lower 2 storey bay to right has door to left in smaller matching doorcase, garage entry and first floor sash. Left gable end has lean-to conservatory, from which extends garden wall with C19 stone doorway. This doorway has 4-centred arch with traceried spandrels and heraldic stops to hoodmould. Extensions to rear of house are of red brick with traceried stone windows, some windows with carved stone foliage. Date and monogram appear in carved stonework over rear door. Included for group value.
