(north side) 14/164 The Manor House 14.7.53 II
Manor house. Early C18 with C19 and C20 alterations and additions. Coursed and squared ironstone and brick with limestone ashlar dressings and Collyweston slate mansard roof. Plinth, rusticated quoins, first floor band, cove moulded eaves, large central arched brick stack. Square plan. 5 bay south front, 2 storeys plus attics, has a central Doric columned porch, with panelled frieze and dentillated cornice, plain keystoned ashlar doorcase and half-glazed C19 door with overlight. Beyond on each side, 2 glazing bar sashes and above, 5 glazing bar sashes, all with projecting keystoned architraves. Above again, 3 hipped dormers, each with a 2 light casement. Beyond, to right, a C19 lean-to addition. Beyond, to left, an early C20 stable range with ramped coped wall. Rear elevation has a central C19 low pitched gabled porch with a 6 panelled door. Above the porch, an overlight, flanked to right by a glazing bar sash and to left by a blocked opening. Above, a central glazing bar sash and above again, 3 C20 hipped dormers. Beyond to right, an early C20 single storey stable range, 8 bays. Beyond to left, a set back C19 lean-to addition with a casement and door, both with segmental heads. To the left, a close boarded door. WEst side has, to left, a glazing bar sash on each floor and above again, a hipped dormer. East side has similar fenestration, reversed.
