- II
Church, now used as furniture warehouse. 1870. W. & G. Audsley in Italian Romanesque style. Dark red brick with bands of blue and orange brick and stone. 5-bay nave with aisles under lean-to roofs. North west tower. One-bay chancel with transepts. Aisles have paired round-headed windows between pilaster strips and corbel table. Triple clerestory windows. West end has window of 3 lights with colonnettes and rose window over. Tower has entrance with central column and round tympanum. 2 storeys of lancets and bell stage with paired round-headed lights with louvres under relieving arch; top cornice. Chancel has east window of 3 stepped lights, transepts have 3 round-headed lights with rose window over, that to south probably organ loft. Interior has arcade with granite columns with Byzantine capitals and unchamfered arcades. Much brick polychromy. Many windows now blocked (1984). King-post roof with arch- braced tie beams.
