31/601 No. 89 (Wavertree Town Hall) 14.3.75 G.V. II

Town Hall, now public house. Dated 1872. J.E.Reeve. Stone. 2 storeys, 5 bays. Ground floor has channelled rustication, sill band and cornice; rusticated pilaster strips, 1st floor has sill course and Corinthian pilastrade with paired pilasters on plinths and balustrade. Windows have architraves, those to ground floor have triple keys with carved fruit, those to 1st floor have panelled aprons, enriched friezes and consoled cornices; all are sashed with glazing bars. Central bay has entrance with glazed doorcase and 10-panel door; Ionic porch with paired columns and inscription "A.D. TOWN HALL 1872". Central 1st floor tripartite window has consoled cornice to central light, balustraded balcony with badge of Wavertree, and Corinthian aedicule with paired columns and acroterion. Iron area railings have spear heads.
