Details
GEORGE ROAD 1. 5104 Edgbaston B15 No 22 SP 0585 NE 40/28 II 2. C1850. Large detached Grecian stucco villa. Two storeys with long side parallel with road and shorter 3 bay entrance front to south. Set back in large gardens with carriage sweep round to south front. The 3 bay entrance front has slightly recessed centre with shorter pediment on finely moulded console brackets. Low hipped slate roof with flat eaves, corniced chimneys. Plinth, first floor sill course and eaves frieze and cornice. Revealed glazing bar sash windows, those on ground floor carried down to plinth, moulded blind boxes on console brackets; those on first floor have panelled sills. Porch in antis with fluted Ionic columns bearing heavy entablature with acroteria, the blocking course supporting the first floor window sill. Panelled door with rectangular fanlight, patterned glazing bay. Two bay flanks, extended on east side by 5 bays including canted bay topped by balustraded balcony and 2 first floor windows in architrave surrounds.
