CALTHORE ROAD 1. 5104 Edgbaston B15 No 19 SP 0585 NE 40/1 II GV 2. Early Calthorpe Estate villa of circa 1820 extended to corner with St James Road and rear circa 1880. Original block of 2 storeys, 3 bays red brick with low pitched hipped slate roof, flat eaves on shallow brackets. Sash windows with grooved voussoir stucco flat arches. Stucco stringcourse. Taller large entrance block of circa 1880 to corner with hipped lantern to roof. Arcaded timber entrance loggia with ornate carved work giving access to vestibule at right angles to original house. Stucco arched doorway with foliage capitals and similar detail to large window towards road in brick pilaster frame. Canted bays to rear. Included for early villa date and group value.
