3/96 Home Farmhouse and attached barn 19.9.79 - II
Early-mid C19 estate building, a laithe house in polite terms. Red sandstone ashlar in Tudor style. Domestic and agricultural parts flank a three bay projecting centre with moulded and shaped gable coping. Two storeys. Two and three-light casements with chamfered stone mullions in double-chamfered reveals with raised surrounds. Similar treatment to Tudor arched central doorway with oblong fanlight above. Stone flagged roof has end chimneys, coped gables and kneelers. High projecting pent wagon porch in barn end. Key slit ventilation holes. Stout lintels to doorways. Rear elevation shows pent house extension and a wagon entrance arch with cut voussoirs. Inside original woodwork remains including doors, staircase and chamfered ceiling beams.
