Details
WELLINGTON ROAD l . 5104 Edgbaston B15 No 60 SP 0684 NW 50/17 21.1.70 II GV 2. C1820-30, a good stucco villa set back from road behind forecourt. Two storeys, 3 bays, symmetrical with Grecian details. One and a half bay extension to south of C1850. An elaborate composition with recessed centre. Plinth and first floor sill course. Prominent giant pilasters rising from plinth with bands of anthemion decoration as capitals below breaks in cornice, the dies aligned in parapet above have wreaths. Slate roof with band corniced chimneys. Outer first floor windows in eared architrave surrounds, the central one in plain reveal with projecting dropped lintel on consoles, panel in parapet above. Ground floor windows in pilaster strip frames with acanthus consoles supporting dropped lintels decorated with wreath and scroll ornament, first floor sill course breaks forward over. The entrance is set in a tripartite frame the full width of the recess: 1/4 pilasters to side lights and full pilasters flanking door, the entablature breaking forward over them with wreath ornament; door of 6 fielded panels. Rear garden elevation has alterations of C1850-60 with 2 storey canted bays and a curved sided bay to centre. Canted verandah with fretted eaves.
