SOHO HILL 1. 5104 Lozells B19 No 127 (formerly listed under Handsworth) SP 0589 SW 19/15 6.3.78 II 2. C1850-55, a richly decorated Italianate stucco villa screen wall stable yard entrance on north side. Two storeys with a 3 bay symmetrical front. Plinth; deeply vermiculated rusticated quoins; moulded first floor sill course decorated with Greek fret, the sills breaking forward on consoles and the sections of sill course below decorated with panels of small paterae; main frieze decorated with rosette paterae and dentil course below eaves bed with coupled modillion brackets supporting moulded eaves cornice. Hipped slate roof chimney stacks cut down. The central doorway is flanked by Corinthian pilasters with panels of paterae, deep entablature with bracketted cornice; panelled reveals, double panelled door with rectangular fanlight. The ground floor windows are canted bays with slender Corinthian pilasters, paterae to friezes, slate pent roofs. The first floor windows have archivolt arches with Greek fret ornament and console keystones, springing from squat Corinthian pilasters. Sashes with vertical glazing bars only throughout. Vermiculated storey courses etc carried round side and on chimney breast. Similar details to rear with centre break partly masked by sloping later wing extended by blind arcaded single storey service range, probably stables originally. Stable yard entrance to front with cornice and parpaet.
