ASHBY ST.LEDGERS MAIN STREET SP5768 (East side) 17/30 Gardener's Cottage, Gazebo with linking wall and terrace approx. 60.m. SE of Manor House
GV II
Gardener's Cottage. C17, remodelled C20. Coursed ironstone and limestone rubble, wood shingle roof, stone stack. One storey and attic; 3 bays. Central doorway with wood lintel and plank door. 3-light casement window with wood lintel on either side. Blocked window to attic in left bay. Right bay covered by ivy at time of survey. One-light window with 4-centred head and moulded stone frame on left side. Interior not inspected. Wall projecting forward from right side. C18 brick. Flemish bond, with stone coping. Square headed gateway with ironstone ashlar surround at west end. On north side of wall is a terrace, probably C18, linking with gazebo at the east end. Gazebo, early C18 remodelled C20. Blue and red brick, Flemish bond, hipped tile roof. One storey on north side facing terrace, 2 storeys at rear. Central doorway with brick frame and C18 six-panel door flanked by 18-pane windows in brick frames. Interior: early C18 bolection panelling.
