Details
SANDWELL MB QUESLETT ROAD SP 09 SE Great Barr 6/130 Handsworth Lodge 30.4.71 II
House. Late C18. Stuccoed brick with slate roof. Gothick style. Single storey. Main part of south facade of two bays with clasping buttresses, central pilaster strip, and moulded band below parapet with coping. The windows have architraves with impost blocks and ogee tops terminating with poppy heads. Gables coped with finials. To the right is a lower bay with a parapet and similar window surround. To its right is a possible addition with a gable and with two further window surrounds. The west gable wall faced the driveway. Its clasping buttresses have blind tracery decoration and there is a crocketted ogee arch with poppy head and blind tracery enclosing three smaller arches. The outer two are windows similar to those of the south facade. The middle one belongs to the doorway, which is surmounted by a shield of arms with helmet. The building was formerly a lodge to Great Barr Hall in Walsall MB (qv).
