Details
SANDRINGHAM WOLFERTON STATION TF 62 NE (upside, SE side) 2/82 Piers, gates and railings to The Original q.v. 2/81 GV II Piers, gates and railings, c1898. Brick with carstone and stone, wrought iron. Pair of piers 69cm square in brick with carstone decoration, upper part in stone with stone cap having egg and dart cornice, piers surmounted by 4 wrought iron elaborate scrolls and twisted bars supporting lanterns with splayed faces having front glass panes etched WOLFERTON, each face with parapet of Royal achievement, finial in form of crown, parapets and crown gilded. Attached pair of wrought iron gates, 3.7m wide, with scroll work decoration. Smaller similar piers to left and right with each surmounted by stone ball emerging from stylised flower; small single wrought iron gates between piers. Attached low brick wall with stone cap to right having 10 small brick piers with carstone decoration and stone caps; 10 wrought iron panels with scroll work, each 2.5m wide, between piers. Similar wall with 12 similar piers and 12 similar panels attached to smaller gate pier at left and running towards The Clockhouse. The gates were to the Upside Royal Waiting Rooms, q.v. 2/81. They form a group with The Original q.v. 2/81, The Clockhouse q.v. 2/79 and gates and railings to The Clockhouse q.v. 2/80.
