16/16 Headstone llm South of S. Aisle of St. Andrews Church
G.V. II
Headstone. Ashlar. 1740. Inscription illegible. Pair of engaged Ionic columns support entablature and enclose raised and fielded rectangular inscription tablet. Above entablature is moulded set-back segmental projection in which a female figure with long hair reclines resting on a skull, carved in high relief. Figure is probably neither a reference to St. Agnes nor an effigy but an allusion to a young unmarried woman.
