TF 73 SE BIRCHAM GREAT BIRCHAM 7/18 King's Head Hotel. G.V. II Public house. 1860, incorporating an earlier structure. Whitewashed brick, tiled roofs. 2 storeys with attics range to north, one storey with attics range at south, forming 'L' plan. Tudor-Gothic. Range to north has 2 ground and 3 first floor 3-light wooden casements with glazing bars. Dentillated brick drip moulds. Gabled porch has raised and fielded Gothic 2 leaf doors. Fret work barge board. At north dormer gable springing from eaves to ridge height with one 2-light casement, C20 replacement barge boards. To south dormer with 2 light casement with drip mould head, replacement barge boards. 3 north and 2 south diamond section, corbelled headed stacks. Wing at south has returned gable with ground floor 3-light drip mould headed casement, first floor architrave framed opening with smaller inserted 2-light casement. Date- stone 1860 above. C20 replacement barge board. 2 paired diamond section stacks with corbelled head. Included for group value on village green.
