TL 31NE WARE RURAL BAKERS END (west side) 2/26 Bakers End Cottages
GV II
Block of 4 houses, now 3 houses. Mid C19. Timber frame weatherboarded (front only white painted). Steep hipped slate roof with slight eaves overhang. 2 handed pairs with shared central chimneys to each roof slope. Double pile, single-fronted plan (matching weatherboarded rear extension to E house). Facing S on hillside above the ford. Each house has one front window to each floor and door remote from fireplace. 2-light cast iron flush casements with small panes. W half has half glazed panelled doors. E half has old plank door on left (Sixpenny Cottage) and old boarded door brought forward in gabled porch on right. Part of a picturesque group with Hall House at the Ford. Included for group value.
