3/4 Hunters (Formerly listed under Wareside) 18.5.76


Stable block and walled garden, now a house. Probably 1878, additions dated '1881' and '1883', by George Devey who built Blakesware for Mrs Gosselin 1876-9. Red brick with blue diaper, stone dressings and steep red tile roofs. Plainer than house. One and a half storeys picturesque Tudor style with main entrance on E. Irregular plan adjoining S side of polygonal large walled garden. Small casement windows with unmoulded stone surrounds and mullions. Gable parapets and tall chimneys with diagonally set shafts. On E front a taller half octagonal battlemented turret (for water tank) with a wide 4-centred stone entrance arch to the right (now a window) and a gabled bracketed porch to the stone doorway.
