Gatehouse with wing walls. 1901. By W Wood Bethell for Richard
Benyon Croft. Roughcast with limestone dressings and steep red
tiled roofs. Ashlar wing walls. Gatehouse at main entrance. 3-
storeys square pyramid roofed towers flank the 2-storeys centre
with large semi-circular archway in moulded stonework with ogee
moulded label topped bv carved Fleur-de-lis. Towers project each
side and have ashlar plinth, quoins, moulded eaves cornice, and
stone framed mullioned windows on 3 floors. Tall external
chimney on outer side of each tower with tabled offsets and tall
stone shaft of 4 joined octagonal shafts. Projecting in a double
curve and stepping down slightly there is a high stone wall to
each side. This has a moulded cornice, chamfered plinth, and
terminates in a tall rusticated pier with ball finial.
Decorative wrought iron gates in Arts and Crafts Style.
