Details
TRING BROOK STREET SP 9211 (West side) 11/50 Nos. 2 to 5 - (Marash House) GV II House, now offices. C17 or earlier, C19 rear extension and shop front, early C20 rear extension. Timber frame on roughcast high sill, frame exposed on front with roughcast infill panels to upper floor smooth stucco face to RH part but roughcast at LH. Frame part exposed on ground floor at N end. Red brick rear extensions. Steep old red tile roof. A 2-storeys, 3-cells, internal chimney plan house facing E with 2- and 3-storeys rear extensions. Front of 3 structural bays and close spaced studs to upper floor. Eaves have been heightened. Large axial chimney a third from N end. 3 windows long irregular E front. 3-light flush casements to left, 8/8 panes flush sash window in middle over a C19 pilastered shop front with moulded capping to fascia, divided panes, rectangular fanlights to 4-panel moulded house door on LH and glazed shop door on RH. RH end has small paned swept dormer window rising through the eaves, and 3-light window below. Central part has large flat chamfered joists spanning from an axial chamfered beam, supported at N on large back-to-back fireplace served by main stack. Off-centre axial beam in N part suggests it may have originated as a cross-wing. Exposed post and rails in rear wall of middle and N rooms.
