Detached Gothic villa. Late C19. By TK Green. For PF Poole,
RA. Purple brick with black and white brick bands and eaves
cornice; stone dressings. Bracketed fishscale tiled gabled
roofs with ornamental cresting and dormers; gables and dormers
with large bracketed and shaped bargeboards.
2 storeys and attics. Irregular frontage with 2 windows.
Central projecting bay with entrance to right. Recessed gabled
entrance with porch of stone pointed arch on columns with
carved capitals; panelled door with over- and side-light.
Projecting bay with ground floor canted bay with tiled
penthouse roof. 2 and 3-light sashes with arched heads and
attached colonnettes. Left hand gable has stone plaque with
carved monogram "PFP RA".
Return to Arkwright Road has 2 large projecting gabled bays
with massive bargeboards, that to right with half hipped roof;
central half hipped and bargeboarded dormer with Y-tracery
window. Garden front believed to retain timber verandah.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached stepped brick walls with
coloured brick bands and cornice of diagonally set bricks;
gate piers with battered caps and panelled timber gates.
