GV II

Cottage. 1848 by F.O'Connor for the National Co-operative Land Company; altered C20. Wet dash render to stone walls, rendered quoins, slate roof: asbestos slate to left extension. Three-room garden front, extended further bay on left, part leanto, part flat roofed extension to rear, single storey. Face to garden: windows late C20 metal casements with rendered surrounds. Slightly projecting centre; 2-light window, in place of original door; trefoil ventilator over: plain verge rafters on consoles to gable. Either side in original wings 2-light windows, plain plinth. To left single bay extension, glass-roofed leanto to front, painted concrete block three 2-light casement windows, half- glazed door in right return. Chimneys on end gables of original three-unit front, further chimney on left end extension. Forms group with other Chartist cottages (q.v.); listed principally for historical and sociological interest: originally with 4 acre holding. (A.M.Hadfield, The Chartist Land Company, 1970.)
