Small house: 1848 for the National Co-operative Land Company by F. O'Connor, later extended. Painted brickwork and stone plinth; slate roof. Four-bay front, lean-to extension to rear on right, gabled on left: single storey. Two-light casement window on right, small panes, rubbed brick arch over. Slightly projecting gabled bay to left: central, half-glazed door with marginal lights to sides, 2 flush panels below, flat rubbed brick arch over. Either side in projection tall single-lights, small panes, similar heads. Above plain string course to front of gable, slightly projecting brick course to verge, with plain rafter on shaped corbel at front: stone quatrefoil ventilator in centre. To left similar window to first bay, with similar but shorter in single-bay extension to left. slightly projecting brick course to eaves main frontage. Brick chimney right gable, at rear behind door and between 2 bays to left. Gable of rear extension rises above roof on left end. Originally with 2-acre plot. Unusual in having been extended at one end: front otherwise largely unaltered. Listed principally for historical and sociological interest; forms group with other Chartist cottages and Snig's End Farm (q.v.). (A.M. Hadfield, The Chartist Land Company, 1970)
