4/44 Granary and Cartshed, Corsend Farm
GV II
Granary and cartshed; early C19; English-bond brickwork; squared, coursed blue lias stone to back and sides of ground floor: tiled roof. 4-bay, 2-storey, granary over cart shed. Yard elevation 4 openings with 450mm square brick piers between, cambered arches, stone keystones. Openings undoored, stone blocks for hinges and hooks for gates survive. Right-hand arch built up late C20. First floor boarded door centre second bay from left, with projecting beam over for sack hoist. Dentil eaves: half-hipped roof. Stone steps against left gable to boarded door on first floor: eaves to half-hip plain. Late C19 brick extension as garage, extension and cover to stairs not of special interest. Blue-brick buttresses to rear wall. Internally, floor over cartshed carried by heavy beams forming 5 bays: end partitioned off late C20. Upper floor walls plastered, combed plaster ceiling, 3 king-post trusses. No provision for lowering sacks through boarded floor. Simple, neatly designed, well preserved building, forms group with the barn (q.v.).
