GV II

House. Late C17. Plum brick and steep old red tile roof. Deep central staircase plan house, roofed in one span, with external gable chimneys, and facing S. 2-storeys, attics and cellar. Symmetrical 3-windows elevations front and back. Brick-on-edge dentilled eaves and gable parapets. Tall rectangular chimneys with corbelled tops. 2 tie rods at upper floor level with circular tie plate at front and S plate at rear. Slightly recessed boxed sash windows to front, now with early C19 margin light sashes to 1st floor and replaced by a modern 2-light casement and a semi-circular bay window to left and right of central door. 4-panel half-glazed door with wide frame, moulded transome and semi-circular radial fanlight under half-round brick arch. Similar blind arches over ground floor front windows. Symmetrical 3-windows rear elevation has segmental arches and flush 2-light casement windows. Central door matches front but 6-panel fielded door up 5 steps. Interior has ovolo-moulded panelled doors and H hinges, cross-beams, and large fireplace to single room on left of entrance. Pretty C18 chimney piece with reeded colonettes in parlour on right (extended back to take in small unheated room at rear on this side. Small early C19 red brick and tile extensions on W end step down from one and a half storeys (with rear dormer) to single storey.
