45/5/26 CAPPELL LANE 30-SEP-83 STANSTEAD ABBOTS VILLAGE (East side) 39, 41 AND 43

II Terrace of 3 houses. Early-C19 with minor C20 alterations. Yellow brick with stone dressings. 3-storeys, with low pitched slate roof and overhanging eaves.
PLAN: Regular plan with narrower fronted double-pile layout.
EXTERIORS: One front window to each house on each floor. Door on left and gathered single chimney stack on right. Front faces W onto roadside. Graduated window sizes, smaller with each storey. Recessed sash windows with stone sills and York stone lintels cut to the shape of flat arches. Ground floor 8/8 panes,
first floor 4/8 panes, top floor 4/4 panes. Late-C20 addition to north of No.43 not of interest.

An early-C19 terrace of three houses that retains its urban form and well-proportioned fa?ade, and has group value with Parish Church of St. Andrew (q.v.)
