GV
II
Railings, 1 pair of gates, 4 gatepiers and matching drinking
fountain. 1881 by Alfred Waterhouse as part of St Andrews Church
built for T F Buxton of Easneye. On a flint faced stone capped
base, a long stretch of iron railings with cast iron spearheads,
supported by higher standards with knobs and backstays. Near
each end a pair of square gatepiers of knapped flint with white
stone quions, plinth offset, and large capping stone carved in
the form of a cross-gabled roof with trefoil roll ridge. A
square seating on top is occupied by a fluted cast iron lamp
standard on the inner of each pair of gateposts. In the middle a
rectangular pier of similar design but with a half-octagonal
corbelled stone basin on the roadside face with a lion's head
spout below over a rusticated projecting dog basin. Remaining
pair of gates at W end have similar railings as uprights with an
arched brace rising to the centre. 1 gate from E pair lying
inside grounds.
