Details
COLN ST ALDWYNS - SP 10 NW at NGR SP 134064 3/127 Keble Barn II Barn with attached stable and outbuilding. Late C18. Random rubble limestone; stone slate roof. Four-bay barn with outshuts on south side, porch to north. Stable attached at south east corner forming L-plan. Outshuts on south side have catslide roof extended down over low barn doorway. Off-centre porch on north side has hipped roof; lean-to cartshed to right. Loft opening in west end of barn; owl hole in gable apex at each end. Stable projects forward towards road with stone loft stairs to gable end doorway having projecting nosing to top landing. Two stable doorways on west side and shuttered loft opening, all with timber lintels. No openings on east side. Small low lean-to out building links stable with barn. Interior: roof structure has mixture of tie-beam and collar trusses with iron tie rods. Picturesque building form in isolated position by roadside.
