Details
MOUNT PARK ROAD 1. 5010 TQ 18 SE 2/28 W5 Church of St Peter II* GV 2. 1889 to 1892, J D Sedding and H Wilson. Church in free Gothic style with a 3 bay nave, 2 bay choir. Yellow stock brick with stone mouldings, arches, quoins, buttresses and tracery. The nave is aisled and the choir has side chapels. Each nave bay has a 3-bay Early-English style triforium gallery supported by a segmental arch. The nave exterior has a tall steep-pitched roof with, at half-height, a series of segmental arches linking turrets which are the top ends of the internal arcade piers. West front has large window with Decorated tracery and is divided into 3-lights by step-buttresses which have tracery screens linking to the window itself which is recessed behind a large arch. Gable over. West window flanked by narrow turrets with battlements and thin spirelets. Slate roofs.
